Using the Onboarding Widget to Complete Setup
The Onboarding Widget picks up where the Setup Wizard leaves off, helping you complete essential tasks to fully launch PreBook. It ensures your system is ready to accept appointments with minimal effort.
Introduction to the Onboarding Widget
What is the Onboarding Widget?
The Onboarding Widget is a guided tool on the PreBook Dashboard that helps you finalize setup by completing key tasks. Using this widget, you can:
- Edit Business or Personal information.
- Modify Business Hours or Availability.
- Add a Staff member (Business mode only).
- Create a Service.
To start accepting appointments, you must create at least one service—and for businesses, add at least one staff member. The Onboarding Widget simplifies these steps, ensuring you’re ready to go.
Where to find it after the Setup Wizard?
After completing the Setup Wizard, the Onboarding Widget appears automatically on your PreBook Dashboard. If you need to access it later, look for a notice on your WordPress Dashboard:

Click the Complete Setup button to access the widget.
Edit Your Setup (If Needed)
If you need to adjust details from the Setup Wizard, the Onboarding Widget makes it easy to refine your settings. Here’s how to update each area.
Editing Business/Personal Information
Update your profile details:
- Navigate to the Onboarding Widget on your PreBook Dashboard.
- Click the Edit button in the Business/Personal Information section.
- Update your information as needed.
- Click Save Changes to confirm.
Modifying Business Hours/Availability
Adjust your operating schedule:
- Find the Business Hours/Availability section in the Onboarding Widget.
- Click the Edit button.
- Modify your operating hours and availability as needed.
- Click Save Changes to confirm.
Adding a Staff (Business Mode Only)
If you selected the Business use case during setup, you’ll need to add at least one staff member who will provide services:
- In the Onboarding Widget, locate the Add Staff section.
- Click Add Staff.
- Fill in the following fields:
- Profile Image: Upload a photo of the staff member.
- First Name & Last Name: Enter their full name.
- Display Name: Choose how their name appears on the booking form.
- Email Address: Add their contact email.
- Phone Number: Include a phone number.
- Title (Optional): Specify their role (e.g., Senior Therapist, Consultant, Instructor).
- Highlights (Optional): Add key points about the staff member (e.g., Certified Specialist, 10+ Years Experience).
- Bio (Optional): Provide a brief background or introduction.
- Cover Image (Optional): Upload photos related to their work.
- Click Publish to add the staff member.
For more detailed information on managing staff, refer to the Staff Documentation. You can add or edit staff members from there at any time.
Creating a Service
Add services to start accepting bookings:
- In the Onboarding Widget, find the Create Service section.
- Click Create Service.
- Complete the process in three steps:
- Step 1: Service Details
- Service Name: Name the service (e.g., “Haircut,” required).
- Short Description: Add a brief overview (e.g., “Classic haircut for all hair types”).
- Select Category: Categorize the service if you need to. Click the Create new category button while typing to add a new one.
- Service Thumbnail: Upload an image to represent the service on the booking form.
- Step 2: Staff Assignment (Business mode only)
- Select Staff: Choose the staff members available for this service.
- Step 3: Duration & Price
- Duration: Set in minutes or hours (e.g., 30 minutes).
- Price Type – Choose from:
- Fixed – Set a standard price.
- Free – Service is offered at no cost.
- None – No pricing displayed.
- Price: Enter the price (e.g., $50), visible only if the Price Type is Fixed.
- Step 1: Service Details
- Click Publish to save your service.

Completing the Onboarding Process
What happens next: PreBook is ready!
Once you’ve completed all the required steps, the Onboarding Widget disappears automatically from your dashboard. At this point, PreBook is fully configured and ready to accept appointments!
You can now:
- Visit Booking Page – Check your Book an Appointment page (found at Pages > Book an Appointment in the WordPress dashboard).
- View Dashboard – Access your central hub for managing all PreBook components.
- Create Services – Add more services in PreBook > Services.
- Add Staff – Include additional staff in PreBook > Staff (businesses only).
- Customize Booking Form – Personalize the booking experience for your customers from PreBook > Customizer.
FAQs & Troubleshooting
Q: The Onboarding Widget is not showing on my dashboard. What should I do?
A:
- Ensure that you have completed the Setup Wizard. The widget only appears after the initial setup is complete.
- Check the WordPress Dashboard Notice:

- If the widget is missing, try reloading the page or clearing your browser cache.
Q: I made a mistake during setup. Can I go back and change my selections?

Q: How do I edit staff or services after completing the Onboarding Widget?
